Who We Are
The Vancouver Meetup Organizers Group is a community of Meetup organizers and assistant organizers in Vancouver, Canada. Organizers and assistants from nearby areas are welcome to join us until an Organizer Meetup starts closer to them.

What We Do
As an organizer, you give, give, give to your groups. This meetup is different: it's a place to relax, refill your energy banks, and let your hair down with fellow organizers and assistant organizers.


Here, you can:

• Meet your fellow organizers in the area
  
• Share tips and tricks for organizing effectively
  
• Learn how to get the most benefit from the Meetup.com software
  
• Discover restaurants and other venues that are friendly to Meetup groups
  
• Network and propose joint ventures between groups
  
• Use the group to experiment with new ideas
  
• Discuss marketing techniques to help you promote your group
  
• Get ideas on how to deal with difficult personalities within your group
  
• Provide feedback to Meetup.com, report bugs, and request new features
  

We plan to have a mix of social meetups and meetups with a guest speaker on some facet of organizing. Expect surprises, too!

Group Guidelines

Respect
Meetup Organizer Meetup Groups are different from other Meetup groups in several ways. First, Meetup pays for them; the organizer does not. Second, the membership is limited to organizers and assistant organizers. Third, they cover the whole range of Meetup topics, not just one topic.

Because of this diversity, the most important requirement of the group is that we respect and support each other. You may disagree with another member's politics, religious beliefs, sexuality, or what they like to do with their free time. That's fine: you don't have to attend their group. But here, in the Meetup Organizers' Meetup Group, we share a common interest in learning how to serve our groups better by putting on great meetups. And the starting point of that is respect.


Participation
We'd like every Meetup organizer and assistant in Vancouver to become a member here, even if you can't find the time to participate actively. That way, you can stay up to date via email about regional events of interest to you. Members will not be removed for inactivity -- if you can put up with the emails, you're welcome to stay on the list! Members whose email addresses become invalid will be removed, however.


Privacy
This group will be maintained as a private group, so that you can discuss sensitive issues or prototype things before you release them to your general membership. We ask all members to respect this and not discuss or post publicly our discussions. What happens in Organizer Meetup, stays in Organizer Meetup!


Board Rooms
Feel free to start a thread on our message board as a "board room" for coordinating between the organizer and assistant organizers of your group. Be aware, however, that organizers and assistants from other area groups will be able to read what you post here.


Message Board & Advertising
Members can advertise their own business, favourite charity, or brag about anything else on the "Shameless Advertising Area" thread on the message board. If the message board is used for advertising otherwise, such advertising will be subject to deletion by the organizers.
